Thousands gather outside, sporting balloons, party caps, canned snow and tinsel. The cheer is rife!
The count down starts and just as the clock strikes midnight the sky ignites in tapestry of choreographed fireworks.

No, its not New Year, its my 100th blog post!!!

It's been a roller-coaster ride with my blogging habits lately. It started off great with an addiction to blogging and me kicking out 31 articles in its first week. Things have died down abit and I have even gone a few days without posting at times.

I have made the 100th mark pretty quickly and the Amatomu Ranking has gone from 1900 and odd to a peak of 320 about a week ago. Things are idling around 500 right now because I have been neglecting my blog latelt, but I have my hopes set on making the top 250 soon. Soon, I tell you!

In my rather short time that I've been a blogger, I've come to enjoy a select few blogs that have me checking up on them often and some have even been blogrolled and I will be adding more to the blog roll soon!

In no particular order:

iMod - Recently undergone a design overhaul, won a SA Blog Award and always has fresh interesting relevant content. It's a busy blog and the comments never stop on the interesting posts!

Roxilla - A fresh look on the happenings of the world. Very much involved in nature conservation and a seal lover to the core! The blog is always filled with funny life excerpts on the happenings of Muay Thai Fighting, Seal Hugging Runner!

Riply - Always an interesting take on things with his posts. Highly opinionated and fresh, which adds to the sense of humour that CJC writes with.

The Outlet - A young entrepreneur with an opinion. Interested in business trends, cars, politics and general life happenings, Saulk is a blogger to check up on occasionally for an informative, good read.

6000 - A Brit living in SA. Highly amusing and excellently written articles with a majorly opinionated view on life in South Africa. In my opinion, 6000 is the is home to the most well written articles. Warning - Extreme Sarcasm!

Goblin Talk - Said to be a direct descendant of He-Man from Grey Skull, Goblin has some very fresh, opinionated posts. Occasionally sarcastic with good spirit, Goblin is a loyal blogger with fresh articles to chuckle about everyday.

Wogan - Sporting a new look (with Jehovah's Witness side panels), Wogan sports some interesting political views and is also very interested in the technical happenings of the IT industry.

PulseBlog - Pulse keeps a tab on the happenings of other blogs and has a routine post of the most interesting reads that he could find for the morning. It's very handy and a great way to surf. Arne' has recently become a dad :).

Getting There - Jared is a loyal reader of my blog. He hasn't posted on his blog much lately, but writes extremely well. In his quest to become an author, he documents the ups and downs of a writer.

Buggee - A good friend of mine who takes AMAZING pics, I've recently blogged about his photography and have just found out about his blog, so he has definitely gained a loyal reader!

Thanks for the mention bud! It's been lovely reading another blog on a regular basis as well as receiving tons of interesting comments on iMod from you.

I think you'll find a nice niche for yourself - Either blogging lots of posts or posting fewer high quality posts, both usually even out nicely and I think for you, you should aim for fewer high quality posts.

I look forward to reading the next 100 posts :)

yeah mate, iv bn trying that. I'v started to avoid posting at all when I'm blank. I used to just find something to fill in the blanks.

I'd like to isolate a niche topic soon. But its so hard right now, because my popular posts include politics, cars and technology. I'm hoping to isolate my topics to a theme and build it from there.

But lets see what happens, I'm still learning! :)

Dude, they're not Jehova's Witness side panels! :o

I just didn't find the right cloud picture. I'll probably change it soon anyway - I've already got a few new ideas for my blog.

And my political orientation is that of "Don't care". So I wonder how dangerous that makes my views ... lol.

    Thanks for the mention!

Happy birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you, happy BIRTHDAY to you http://deshantan.blogspot.com haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaappy birthday to y... hang on, that's the wrong song :|

    Dude, 100 posts well written!

I lurk here a lot. You're one of the few, and i stress FEW blogs that are worth popping in to have a look-see as to what's popping in and out of your head from day to day. You can consider myself an abid reader :)

Keep it up and as for your niche market - I say: WHY lable yourself as 'this' apposed to 'that'. The whole point of a blog is that they are easily updated and somewhat liberating as per the content that you spludge onto the pages!

Looking forward to the 1000 posts party!

Congratulations on your 100th and thanks for the mention.

I enjoy reading your blog and it's always original content, not just linking to other sites for content or copy-pasting jobbies.

I already can see some gr8 stuff coming from your blogging corner

100 Posts in such a short time. Dee, you're a machine!

Thanks for the mention and congrats. I really rather enjoy reading your site. I feel it's interesting and informative.

I do have a bone to pick however... "Occasionally read" :P. You should be checking for new posts every 5 minutes! :)

@ angel - Oops, no1 told me about the tradition. I'll have to do it on my next benchmark post to catch up!

@ Saul - :) I wrote it first without the "occasional" but then went back and added it along with Wogan's Jehovah's Witness snippet and Rox's pronouns!
    No offense dude!

I really hope that you guys stick around. I'd like to see the blog grow and become a hub of opinions!

Great to see all the regulars bouncing in here to leave a congratulations comment.

It's lovely when a select few people start reading each others blogs and commenting on a regular basis, it's when small networks start, that all the blogs get extra traffic and as a collective they rise together. It's something I've spoken to Rox about a number of times.

I wanted to create a small widget, which only a select few place on their blog - this widget has an admin section to add and remove blogs and only the chosen few are allowed on it and only if they display it on their blog - perhaps I should revisit the idea.

    Chat to you soon!!

  15. HoTsTePPa // 07 May 2008 at 01:06

    Yeah!

I noticed sub networks amongst bloggers and i was hoping to break that divide abit as well with my post. Rox, CJC, Arne' and yourself tend to be regulars on eachothers blogs. Goblin and 6000 are mates and have their own lil network.

I have already noticed that since my post, CJC has been to Goblin's blog, hence the network extends!

Bloggers in SA is such a small network, but we still tend to form sub groups, so heres to sorting that out!

  16. Rox // 07 May 2008 at 22:11

That's what makes it all fun, also even better when we have blogger bashes - not just the awards, but just sommer drinks missions.

Chris' idea for the network badge is a good one, I think getting a regular chilled blogger drinks thing once a month or so is also a good idea. But not a heavy geek dinner thing, more chilled vibe.

Btw, I saw that Glad To Be A Girl has started a BlogGirl thing for girl bloggers to have lunch and chat. Thought that was a rad idea, but I could only think of about 2 or so girl bloggers I know in CPT, lol.

Offline social gatherings for bloggers... interesting!

What would we end up talking about? Maybe this is a good idea and then we discuss our posts, make notes of the comments and then rush home and post our comments on each others blogs...

Then I realized that I'm talking crap again and self-slapped the back of my head!

Blogger Exclusive Drink nights? just what u need Dee!
